Stainless steel – Buying price

Nord Holding is a company specialized in carrying out activities with secondary raw materials of stainless steel, according to the provisions of the Waste Management Law.

Stainless steel waste can be chrome-nickel pieces, various items, turnings and others with different nickel content.

Stainless steel is one of the most valuable metals and due to its qualities, including strong corrosion resistance and steel strength, it is widely used in the production of household and industrial appliances, surgical equipment, as a structural material in construction and many others.

With respect stainless steel scrap price, at Nord Holding we can offer you one of the highest on the scrap market.

What types of stainless steel does Nord Holding buy out?

Stainless steel is known for its high corrosion resistance and durability, thanks to the alloy of iron, chromium and nickel, which makes it extremely strong and rust-resistant.

Stainless steel is categorized as a ferrous metal, but it is not attracted to a magnet. It is a steel alloy containing chromium and nickel in different ratios.

The following types of stainless steel scrap are accepted at our recycling depots:

  • STAINLESS STEEL WITH 8%
    minimum nickel (Ni) content
  • STAINLESS STEEL WITH 9%
    minimum nickel (Ni) content
  • STAINLESS STEEL WITH 10%
    minimum nickel (Ni) content
  • STAINLESS STEEL FROM SHREDDING PLANTS
    separated during the shredding of end-of-life motor vehicles;
  • Turnings and/or other stainless steel items

Nord Holding buys this scrap in a variety of shapes and sizes, including pieces, turnings and slabs – stainless steel with 8% Ni, stainless steel with 9% Ni, stainless steel with 10% Ni. Maximum dimensions 50 х 50 х 1500 mm or 70 х 70 х 90 mm. Free of other metals, sand, moisture, oiling. We also buy chrome-nickel steel turnings, uncontaminated and free from ferrous and non-metallic attachments. To be free of iron, sand, moisture and excessive oiling.

When accepting stainless steel scrap, it is checked for radioactivity and categorized according to Nord Holding’s specification based on origin and nickel content.

The nickel content is determined using a chemical analysis device. After acceptance, the stainless steel scrap is sorted, cut into specific sizes, baled if necessary and forwarded to recycling facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Stainless steel, also known as inox, is a steel alloy with a nickel content. It is widely used for making kitchen utensils and equipment, in construction, in industry, in medicine (for surgical instruments) etc.

Stainless steel is a valuable raw material that is widely used. Like other metals, it can be successfully recycled and reused many times. For this purpose, it is very important that it is collected and delivered for recycling by specialized companies such as Nord Holding.

Recycling process

In theory, stainless steel waste is 100% recyclable. The chromium,
nickel and molybdenum contained in their composition are extremely valuable raw materials with a high value.

Stainless steel waste is recycled by being used in the production of new stainless steel.

  • SHREDDING
    Shredding of stainless steel waste.
  • CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
Chemical analysis of the shredded fraction and separation by type.
  • MELTING
Stainless steel scrap and raw materials are melted together in an electric arc furnace.
  • ANALYSIS AND CORRECTIONS
The molten material is analysed and adjustments are made to the chemical composition according to the product specifications.
  • PREPARATIONS
The molten material is cast into billets.
  • END PRODUCTS
Plates, sheets, rods, wire and others are produced from the billets.
